Where can you learn how to make a voodoo doll? What is exactly are Voodoo Dolls? Where do voodoo dolls come from? How do these famous voodoo dolls work? In this lesson, you will find out all the answer to each of these perplexing questions.

How to make a Voodoo Doll

The Voodoo Doll is actually not from the Original African Voodoo.

I explained in another lesson how Modern Voodoo became so powerful because it was forged in the fires of survival and included sections from several arts.

The practitioners used any form of magic that would work.

Well, the Voodoo Doll is actually from a form of European Magic where it was called a Poppet.  That is Poppet not Puppet but the word Puppet does come from the word Poppet.

The Poppets are primarily thought to be a powerful magical tool for successful spells based upon a magical law called similarity, which is a sub law of sympathetic magic.

BUT… This belief taken in whole has caused a lot of problems.  Because a Voodoo Doll or Poppet Magic can be quite effective, the theory behind why it works was strengthened.  That is only PARTLY correct. It missed a very important piece of understanding that has caused a lot of pain.

When you use a Voodoo Doll or Poppet in your magic, you are actually doing 2 things.

FIRST… You are acting with the law of similarity but that act mostly only strengthens the focus back in your own mind and spirit.

Think about it this way.  After you get a hair cut and the barber flushes your hair down a toilet do you drown?  Or if you photo of you burns, do you burn? Not Normally.

A doll you make your self WHILE thinking about your intended recipient will always be more a much more powerful spell casting tool then a doll that you buy and just add some hair or a photo too. (Sure I would love to sell you blank dolls but if I did this I would be shorting your magical education and pushing your spells to failure.)

Second… (And more Importantly) You are forging a connection with your spirit between your recipient and yourself through the doll when you make the doll and while focusing on the recipient. This connection then acts as a conduit for the energy of the spell. Whether you invoke the Loa or another spirit from or just use your own energy.

It is like a path through bushes from your intention to your recipient.  This connection between yourself and your recipient is why it is a BAD idea to do harmful magic to someone in this way. This is one of the most common ways that Voodoo Spells back fire.

If you are sticking pins in your Voodoo Dolls and thinking hateful thoughts at your recipient, some of that energy will come from the voodoo dolls back to you. In fact you can test this. Make a doll and do something to it then feel the reaction in yourself. You can even make a doll of yourself and do spells on yourself in this way. In some of my training, I provide more information and specific spells.

A good use of a Voodoo Doll or Poppet is a protection or feel loved spell. This is when you want the recipient to feel your good feelings at a distance. Another good use of a Poppet or Voodoo Doll is to define and then find someone. In a spell of this type your are creating similarity to someone that you want to find.(Your spirit is smart and is connected in ways you can not imagine. And of course when you are more advanced the Loa can help you find people.)

I do not have the time left in this video to go into all the details of this type of spell but I will tell you enough here to play with it in a safe way.

Here are the steps. 1 Lets say that you want to find a specific type of person. This could be a love, a sexual encounter, an accountant for your business, a good dog trainer, someone to play chess with. Just about any type of person. You make a Poppet while thinking of exactly this type of person and you put symbols that have meaning to YOU into the making of your Poppet. KEY NOTE HERE. Your Doll WILL connect you with this person. It has to. It will every single time I guarantee it. Even if you really do a bad job with it you will still have a connection. The connection will just be very weak.

Here is the warning.

You can easily pull this person toward you OR push them away from you. The connection goes both ways. Controlling the pull and push is something that I don’t have time for in this video. (Yes I do have it in my paid training) BUT… You can still test this kind of magic without it.  The connection will have a natural PULL bias if you simply make the voodoo dolls then DO NOT WORRY about whether or not it will work.  Once you get it finished, just set it someplace where you can see it and ask yourself daily if you will see this person today BUT… You CANNOT WORRY about NOT seeing them. If you do then you will push them away.  If you start feeling like that then you should destroy the doll and clear the spell.  Until you know better how to control the direction of your energy simply do not put any force into the spell at all.  Voodoo Dolls will tend automatically pull you towards your recipient simply because you forged the connection.

There are several reasons why people want to make a Voodoo Doll. First of all, making it can be an enriching activity, promoting camaraderie among friends and families when done out of fun. Invariably, the stereotypical reasons as to why people make Voodoo dolls comes up, and you have an opportunity to discuss who pissed you off, hurt you, and who deserves a good hexing. What a great forum for a self-help group! However, some people make it to revenge or make other people’s lives difficult. There are people in this world who deserve as much bad luck as is humanly and spiritually possible. Child molesters, rapists, sadistic and cruel parents, partners, and world leaders, those involved in the trafficking of women and children for prostitution are just some of them. However, some innocent people can also become victims. Your voodoo dolls can represent anybody, with just a simple thought about a person while making the voodoo dolls from that certain person, even if the victim is unknown. With a little hair or physical connection the magical connection just gets stronger.

But, I choose not to engage in such practices because they are spiritually toxic to myself, my family, and the universe.

There are other, more constructive ways to make an impact that won’t subject you or those close to you to the dark forces of the collective shadow of humanity. Few are prepared to deal with such energy. Remember, every Doll you make becomes a 2 way connection. It is like tying a rope to someone. You cannot tie a rope to someone without tying it to yourself too. A lead rope can be used to make a horse follow you but it can also be used to drag you around the pasture. This is stronger in the Wiccan tradition than in the Voodoo tradition but it does contain some validity in any tradition. The law of three that governs our fate as related to our behavior and the choices we make; in short, everything we do will come back to us three-fold.

So, don’t be surprised if you decide to stick somebody with a pin with the intent of hurting them and sudden “bad luck” befalls you.

 

Here are the steps on how to make a Voodoo Doll:

Step ONE. Become VERY solid on your reasons for making this Doll. Get your voodoo dolls purpose fixed in your head. The following exercise, while not necessary,  will help a LOT. WRITE DOWN YOUR REASONS for MAKING THE DOLL!!! Yes. I know this may seem weird but write them down. The best way to do this is to take a large piece of paper and first draw a “Blank” doll then make notes around it regarding your reasons for making it. And on the back of the paper write down your intended spells. Sometimes this step itself can become so strong that you do not even need to make the doll. This is your first magic connection with your intended and will make each of the following steps stronger. Because it is like water that starts a small valley then everytime you flow energy through that valley, you increase the valleys depth. You can also think of this as pre-aiming.

STEP TWO: GATHER MATERIALS

 

 

The whole time you gather your materials, keep your purpose in mind. (Remember your piece of paper. Keep it with you as you find materials.) Take a walk outside and look around you. What do you see that looks like potential materials?

You’ll want to find 2 rather sturdy sticks. I recommend using sticks that are 8 to 12 inches long for the body. The other stick will serve as the voodoo dolls arms and should measure half the size of the body.

Next, you’ll want to find something to stuff the voodoo dolls with. Although Spanish moss or pine needles are commonly used in New Orleans styled of voodoo dolls, anything that speaks to you that is a natural element will work.

These two things form the foundation of your Voodoo dolls. Everything has energy on multiple levels. If you relax, you will feel what the best materials for your intended purpose are.

If you just can’t seem to figure out what to make your voodoo dolls out of. Just sit down someplace quite and do the following mini spell. Say over and over in your own mind these words: “Please tell me what the perfect materials for my “NAME” doll to help me make the strongest connection?” Ask yourself this question till the answer comes. If the answer does not come just keep asking. I guarantee it will.

Sometimes you will start to feel bored before it comes. The KEY is to allow it to come. You ARE connected to forces that you cannot imagine and they will help you. The reason we are not invoking a specific Loa is because we don’t know which one is busy or which one has our answer.

Another way to find out if a material is right for your doll or not is to simply hold your “paper mentioned above” in your left hand and your material in your right hand and ask yourself if this is a fit. The answer will normally come to you quickly and easily.

Next, find some scrap material and cut into one or two inch strips. Two inch strips are best for bigger dolls. Don’t worry if the material frays or is not cut straight or imperfect. These are the kinds of things that will give your Voodoo doll character when all is said and done. Materials(KEEP in mind that these are SAMPLE materials. Yours might differ.)

• 2 strong sticks

 

• Spanish moss  - (Spanish moss is actually an unusually good medium but it is NOT essential for the doll to make the connection.)

 

 

• scrap fabric cut in 2 inch strips, 2 to 3 feet long (color of your choice)

 

 

• yarn that complements or contrasts fabric

 

 

• string, hemp cord, or waxed thread

 

 

• 2 black-eyed peas or beads to use as eyes

 

 

• needle and thread in a color to match or contrast your fabric

 

 

• tacky glue

 

 

• 7 pins with heads in the following colors: red, blue, green, purple, yellow, black, white

 

 

Symbolism of the 7 pin colors:

• yellow – success

 

• white – positive

 

 

• red – power

 

 

• purple – commanding presence

 

 

• green – money

 

 

• blue – love

 

 

• black – repelling negative energy

 

 

NOTE: The colors are more specific and important then the materials. And I forgot to mention before but use these colors on your paper too.

STEP THREE: MAKE A CROSS

 

Make a cross shape with your two sticks.  Remember during this entire process you are keeping your intended in mind. EACH step strengthens to connection IF you have your intended in mind.

Take the Spanish moss and wrap it around the sticks, starting at the middle for reinforcement. If possible, use moss that is connected together in a piece long enough to cover the sticks without breaking the moss apart. The idea is to wrap the doll in one continuous motion.

Continue wrapping the moss up around the head, down to one arm, back across to the other arm, back to the middle, and down to the bottom. If you break the moss apart and have to use more than one continuous piece, that is okay. However, you may have to wrap string around the moss to keep it from falling off. If you wrap tight enough, you shouldn’t have to use string over the moss.

STEP SIX: WRAP THE DOLL WITH FABRIC STRIPS

Take your fabric strips and wrap around the moss. Make sure to leave some of the moss showing, such as on the head (for hair), at the ends of the arms, and at the bottom. Secure with tacky glue. You may want to reinforce with a couple of stitches with your needle and thread.  As you wrap the doll imagine the wrappings tying you to your intended.

 

STEP SEVEN:  FORM THE FACE

 

 

 

Take your beads and attach them with the needle and thread for eyes, or glue 2 black eyed peas to the face for eyes. Add a button or bead for the mouth. I used a small plastic flower for the mouth of this doll.  Picture your intended person’s face as you do this. STOP after each mark and imagine your intended person’s face. Don’t worry; the doll does not have to look like your intended. You just have to think about them as you make the marks.

Congratulations! Add your seven pins and you have made an all purpose Voodoo doll! Now that you have done this can you see why no one can sell you a doll that is NEARLY as powerful as one you can make. Many people find truly making a Voodoo doll to be a shocking experience.

NOTE: Recharging the doll is important.

If you do not recharge your doll then over time it will simple lose connection with your intended.

There are several ways to recharge your doll. One simple way is to think about your intended as your physically mess with your doll — as you add stitches or repair or fuss with it.  If you put times on the spells it hurts the spells.

SO… Do your spells but forget about WHEN they are supposed to happen. Just trust that they will. If you do the above steps then your connection to your intended will be very strong.  The energy that you put through this connection will be a whole other matter. That is a subject for a different video but you will notice effects of the connection even if you do not spell through it at all.

Remember this is a 2 way connection and unless you have some great magic defenses these types of spells can backfire so send something good down the line. If all you send out is good then you are safe.

NOTE: Fear is not good.

If you are afraid your spell will not work you will simply kill the spell. And then it won’t work. You do not have to have faith in this type of spell. The connection is very automatic. If you are just neutral you are fine.

Making Voodoo Dolls to find specific types of people is a lot of fun and takes no more spell casting then the making of the Doll.

BUT… If you want to find them a bit quicker simply imagine the energy from the doll come to you as well as going to the intended and it will basically double the speed at which you find your intended.
